Trekking "Cajón de los Arenales"
Duration total del programa: full day
Available: all year long
From Mendoza or Valle de Uco we head towards Manzano Histórico (Tunuyán), the trailhead of the old Piuquenes Pass road to Chile and the core of the wine region Valle de Uco. This trail was one of the main passes across the Andes in colonial times, and it was used by Argentina's Independence leader, General San Martín, and by British naturalist Charles Darwin, among other travellers.
From Manzano Histórico we ride in 4x4 vehicles. The dirt road climbs close to a mountain stream for approx 30 minutes, then we enter the granite world of Los Arenales. This ravine is a popular rock climbing area, and its spires and walls form and imposing landscape. We start our 2 hour trek here, towards the interior of the ravine. We have lunch by a small glacial lake and head back for the truck. After a tea in Manzano we come back to Mendoza.
